Efimovian states of three charged particles

When three particles in dimensions interact with a short-range potential fine-tuned to an infinite scattering length, they form sequence of loosely bound states obeying discrete scale invariance known as Efimov states. Here we show that analogous are formed by charged carrying two equal charges and one opposite charge one, two, without any fine-tuning. Our finding is based on the Born-Oppenheimer approximation, where effective inverse-square attraction induced consequence dipole-charge interaction between hydrogenlike heavy-light atom far-separated heavy particle. Because resulting Efimovian emerge toward second or higher dissociation threshold, be realized quasibound may observed exciting hydrogen molecular ions trions excitonic systems. We also consider same system but logarithmic Coulomb relevant quantum vortices two-dimensional superfluids, shown genuine first threshold.
